The Slippery Hitch is a special knot in that it is used only in situations where you need to release something quickly. For example, this could be when you have furled the sails on a boat.
FOR A LARGER IMAGE click the animation This knot should not be used as a means for climbing unless you are decending. Even then it should be used with the greatest of caution otherwise you could end up falling. This knot cannot be considered a safe knot under any circumstances.
