We stock a fantastic range of towing ropes, equipped with heavy duty forged steel hooks for easy operation. When selecting a towing rope, it's vital that you take into account the weight of the vehicle you may be towing. A simple Google search should list the weight of your vehicle, which you can then correspond to the breaking strength of the towing rope.
Towing ropes are often constructed from nylon, owing to the rope fibre's high strength characteristics and fantastic resistance to UV rays, abrasion, rot and chemical exposure. Furthermore, nylon rope also has a high stretch, hence the elasticated tow ropes that can be found above.
Is it legal to tow a car with a rope?
Yes, it is legal to tow a car with a rope, but not on a motorway. Furthermore, the maximum distance between the two vehicles must be no more than 4.5 metres and an 'On Tow' sign must be placed at the back of the vehicle being towed.
If the distance between the two vehicles exceeds 1.5 metres, the rope must be clearly visible to other road users, within a reasonable distance from either side, making high-vis towing ropes a great option.
